2.4m Douglas Fir (Par) – Cut to Size

Our 2.4m Douglas Fir (Par) timber offers the perfect blend of strength, beauty, and versatility for a variety of both structural and aesthetic projects. Known for its exceptional durability and distinctive grain, Douglas Fir is the ideal choice for everything from construction work to custom woodworking and interior finishes.

Why Choose 2.4m Douglas Fir Timber?

1. Exceptional Strength and Durability

Douglas Fir is one of the strongest softwoods, making it perfect for load-bearing applications like beams, posts, and flooring. Its toughness ensures that it can withstand heavy usage, while its natural resistance to moisture, decay, and pests makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor projects. Whether you're building a garden structure or crafting a feature wall, Douglas Fir will stand the test of time.

2. Attractive Natural Aesthetic

Douglas Fir’s light golden to reddish-brown colour, paired with its distinctive grain, brings a beautiful, rustic yet sophisticated look to any project. Its smooth texture makes it a great choice for cladding, paneling, and custom furniture, while its natural variations add a touch of uniqueness. Whether you're after a traditional look or a more modern finish, Douglas Fir offers a warm and versatile aesthetic.

3. Easy to Work With

Despite its remarkable strength, Douglas Fir is easy to cut, shape, and finish. The planed finish ensures a smooth surface that’s ready to use straight away. It also takes stain, paint, and varnish beautifully, allowing you to achieve the desired finish with ease. Whether you're working with hand tools or machinery, Douglas Fir is an excellent choice for both DIY enthusiasts and professional craftsmen.

4. Low Maintenance and Long-Lasting

Thanks to its natural resistance to weathering, Douglas Fir requires minimal maintenance. It performs well in both exposed and protected environments, developing a silvery patina over time if left untreated. If you prefer to preserve its colour, periodic treatment with oils or finishes can keep it looking fresh for years, making it a low-maintenance timber that’s built to last.

5. Sustainable and Eco-Friendly

At Sawn Sawmill, we ensure our timber is sourced from responsibly managed forests. Our Douglas Fir comes from certified sustainable sources, so you can be confident that you’re making an eco-friendly choice. By purchasing our timber, you’re supporting sustainable forestry while investing in a high-quality, long-lasting product.

Larch from the UK has a lot more colour than imported Siberian larch with deeper orange hews.

Cedar from the UK cedar has less colour than Canadian cedar, Uk cedar has the red and brown hews but this fades quickly to a yellow. Oiling can bring back the colour. Please bare this in mind if mixing or adding to projects that have imported timbers.
